The Victoria's Secret show is a highlight of the social, fashion, and celebrity calender: highly anticipated by both men and women alike. And it's no wonder why, with beautiful women strutting around in elaborate underwear, an A-list audience, and headliner acts providing the soundtrack.
This year's show featured another six incredible collections, each with their own fabulous themes. American 'IT' girls Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid made their Victoria Secret debut as the latest two angels. With viewers from over 192 countries the pressure was definitely on. But this year outdid all expectations: stunning outfits, infectious smiles, and picture perfect hair. So here's The Chapel's rundown of this years' show, and its most stunning looks.
VS's first collection was bang on trend with the 70's retro style. The angels were adorned with floaty materials and brightly coloured fringing. Whilst Elsa Hosk's lace trailing robe may be a bit outside of our dressing gown comfort zone, her hair and accessories combination got us inspired. Her fierce middle parting, bouncing blonde curls, and statement earrings are wearable with any outfit (or underwear) combination. You don't have to rock some flares to channel this angel's look, just get out the curling tongs and curl away from the face for luscious volume.
Portrait of an angel
Jasmine Tooks' dark romantic look was another standout for us here at The Chapel. With a sheer silvery bodice and intricate black wings, all attention was on her outfit. Pairing with barely-there makeup and loose curls softened the dark look, whilst the deep hair colour bought out the darker shades in her lingerie. Her hair and makeup didn't detract from the overall effect, but transformed her metallic look into one of romance and mystery.
This year's offering from sister brand PINK was not only the most wearable of the collections (well maybe not the firefighter pants), but effortlessly sexy too. GiGi's au naturel honey blonde locks added an extra shine to her relaxed look, whilst her glossy hair pulled together her firefighter getup. To get the same seamless look, use a smoothing serum or oil before straightening.
Maria Borges once again absolutely nailed it this year, with her explosive look for the Fireworks collection. Surrounded by a rainbow of feathers, Maria's look -- paired with bold royal blue lingerie -- went off with a bang. If her outfit wasn't enough, Maria also refused to wear a weave or hair extensions for this year's show. Her natural, cropped afro took her look to another level: redefining the classic 'Victoria's Secret look'.
Bed head is beautiful
Regardless of outfit theme, one thing stayed consistent: flawless and perfectly disheveled 'bed hair'. Whether that be in the form of semi-groomed locks or au natural styles, hair is an important part of every angel's look.
The classic Victoria's Secret 'bed hair' look is (almost) as envied as the model's bodies: but no where near as hard to achieve. Gigi Hadid's lean limbs may be a fair few gym sessions away, but the coveted Victoria's Secret waves take minutes.
All you need is a curling iron, some dry shampoo or volumizing powder, and sea salt spray to get the perfect 'I woke up like this' look -- don't worry, your secret's safe with us! Start by parting your hair in the middle. Spray with dry shampoo or dust some volumising powder into your roots, and work in with your fingers. Next heat up a curling iron that doesn't have a clamp. This will give you loose, casual waves rather that structured curls. Curl away from your face, starting at the mid sections for a tousled look. Brush through your hair with your fingers to break up your curls and finish with a bit of sea salt spray for added texture, as well as minimal hold.
