London Fashion Week brings together our favourite established designers with fresh faces, to become the home of boundary breaking collections. Pulling in 'it' girls, international celebrities, and envy inducing bloggers alike, this years A/W shows didn't disappoint on the glamour stakes.

Catwalks were filled with ruffles, frill, and sequins, giving this fashion week a 'grunge girl vibe', which was very different to the athletic feel of New York's recent A/W offerings. With an air of quintessential UK decadence, unparalleled by any other fashion week all eyes were on the capital for next season's trends. Whilst the masterfully put together outfits take pride of place, the hair and makeup chosen to complete a look is just as important. So  we've done the painstaking hard work to pick out the most notable hairstyles of this year's LFW AW/16, to give you a kick start on finding your next look.

Elegantly inconsistent

One stand out trend styled by the likes of Gucci, Fendi, and Topshop Unique was inconsistent hair styling. Capitalizing on the natural texture of each model's hair, each style was uniquely complemented each individual look. From deep side parts to undone waves, each model's style suited their hair's natural texture, rather than forcing it into a set style.  For a look fresh from the runway, opt for a texturizing spray to give your 'effortless' look so hold and volume.

Over the top 80's

Tata Naka's collection was a standout for us here at The Chapel. The looks had a strong 80s theme, filled with with power suits and block colours. Each look was paired with shimmering eyelids and glossy cherry lips, which gave a girlish pop and unifying effect to this bold collection.

Deep parted big glossy waves and slicked back lobs featured heavily, modernizing the retro 80s power pieces.  In theory, the brightly coloured sequined garments should have clashed with iridescent makeup, but the controlled hairstyles pulled the whole look together. The result: a classy laid back style, which would otherwise be hard to achieve when dressed in sequins or a power suit.

Whilst deep parted glossy waves are nothing new to us, slicking back your lob is still something that's a little harder to master.  Consult one of our incredible stylists, to provide you with a serum appropriate for the weight and texture of your hair. In terms of runway to real life styling, pair this hairstyle with oversized or androgynous pieces to add a sleek touch to your statement look.

Feeling floral

We absolutely adored the oversized geometric floral prints in Markus Lupfer's AW collection, nearly as much as his opulent embellished leather jacket and bags.  The collection was romantic but not girly, tough but not harsh. To suit the contrasting collection, hair was left wild and bare, as if each model had been caught in a storm. But each look remained collected and elegant: another clashing of expectations.

Whilst we aren't in a huge rush to exactly emulate the windswept look, we're all about embracing a hint of bed hair with a little help from a sea salt spray. Work into natural hair and dry with a diffuser to encourage natural waves. Finally ruffle your parting, to give your hair an effortless edge.

Hitting the streets

Here at The Chapel we are always glued to the runway shows, but we also love taking inspiration from street style at London Fashion Week. With 'it' girls (and guys) and fashion bloggers taking to London's streets, real life inspiration was everywhere. A huge hair trend this year, mostly born out of necessity with the chilly UK weather, was tucking long strands of hair into your coat or knitwear. This gives you the chance to test out how shorter hair would look, without committing to the chop.  Keeping on the same warm vibes was the resurgence of hats. From beanie to fedora, this trend is perfect for any fashionista who is struggling to keep their locks looking perfect. For a chic finish,  extra day before hair washing, and a few more minutes curled up in bed, top off your style with some trendy head wear.

If LFW AW/16 has inspired you as much as it's inspired us, book in an appointment with one of our stylists for a catwalk ready makeover.
