The seasons are changing. Goodbye bitter cold, hello bright sunshine (we hope!). At The Chapel, we love making the most of the great outdoors but it’s something that many of us in London struggle with. We forget about the green escapes, canal stretches and fabulous views over the winter months. Springtime is all about getting back out there!

Just an afternoon of fresh air or a chilled Sunday walk can do wonders for the mind, body and soul. Plus, it’s time you can really devote to yourself. So to give you some inspiration, we have gathered together some of London’s loveliest wanders and walks, including some all-time favourites from The Chapel’s very own stylists and guest relations teams!

Take in the green at Greenwich Park

Head down to south east London and immerse yourself within one of London’s royal parks. Expect glorious views of the River Thames, the Isle of Dogs and the City of London. Gabrielle Gray from our Guest Relations Team suggests you start out on the lush greens of the park and then head over to the Greenwich Observatory to take in the beautiful scenes of the city. After you’ve taken in the view, wander down for a spot of lunch at Greenwich Market. Gabrielle says, “It has amazing street food and some great stalls.” For those who love learning on the move, pop down to the Cutty Sark for a historical journey back in time. And finally, stop for a drink in one of the quaint pubs by the river. Sounds like the perfect Sunday to us!

Get lost in Richmond Park

Just a short train ride south from central London is Richmond Park - London’s largest Royal Park and one of the most stunning green spaces the city has to offer. The huge nature and wildlife reserve is full of natural beauty, being home to wild deer and some of the oldest trees in the UK. If you’re feeling particularly fancy, why not indulge in a horse and carriage ride around the park - a luxury way to enjoy the sensational sights! After a good dose of fresh air, finish your trip in the charming Georgian tea rooms within Pembroke Lodge for a delicious cream tea.

Peruse about Portobello Market

We love a spot of shopping, and no one more so than Karlene. Karlene, from our London salon, suggests taking a trip to Portobello market - renowned for its half-mile long antique market. Full of hidden treasures and one-off fashion items, this beautiful open-air market is the perfect place for some retail therapy with an outdoor feel. Here you’ll find a whole range of different traders, each with their own stories to tell. Finally, don’t forget to stop off in one of the cute cafes along the way for a treat such as Farm Girl - expect anything from jackfruit tacos to superfood smoothies.

Hike around Hyde Park

Perhaps the most famous of all of London’s many green spaces, Hyde Park is a must-visit in the summertime. We recommend renting a bike (or taking advantage of the many Boris Bike stations around the city) to take a ride around the park to see the Serpentine bridge, Joy of Life fountain and Achilles statue. Take a moment to pause at each and reflect on the beautiful site in front of you - it will give you a whole new perspective on the space around you.

Explore East London

Finally, we have East London. With such creative sights and spaces around this whole area, it can be hard to make a decision on which on to embark on. Harriet from our London team, who resides in Stoke Newington, suggests starting at Angel Islington and walking along the canal to Victoria park. On this route, you’ll witness some amazing buildings such as the Rosemary Branch Theatre, watch numerous ornate locks in action and get lost in one of London’s largest green spaces. If you’re feeling peckish, be sure to visit the Barge House for their famous ‘Breakfast in Bread’ - it’s not to be missed!

After relaxing in Victoria Park meander down towards Shoreditch to visit Columbia Road Flower Market (only open on Sundays). Here you can take a memento of your spring walk to keep you feeling fresh throughout the week.

Even if the weather isn’t up to scratch you can keep these in the bank when luck swings our way. We’d love to hear if you try any of our suggestions, or even visit us in Islington if a canal walk is on the cards. And for more London guides from our team check out our blog!
